DNA Inc. interns prove their mettle. Again!

‘Twisted’, the new 3D Animation Short Film crafted by DNA Inc. interns was launched by Mr. Srinivas Mohan, three-time national award winner & VFX Expert of Indian Artists at Dilsukhnagar Arena’s 13th Anniversary Celebrations amidst a 3000-strong gathering of students and industry veterans on Sunday, the 17th of July, 2011 at Hyderabad.

DNA Inc. (Dilsukhnagar Arena Incubation) is the revolutionary CG-internship initiative of Dilsukhnagar Arena, India’s Largest Digital Media Academy. It is an ‘India-first’ experience-enabling initiative aimed at grooming studio-ready CG Artists. Dilsukhnagar Arena hogs the limelight at SFFV-2011; Wins 5 awards for its Animation short films.

Dilsukhnagar Arena made its presence felt at The Short Film Festival of Vijayawada (SFFV) -2011 by winning 5 awards. The festival was held on April 5 and 6, 2011 at KL Rao Bhavan, Governorpet, Vijayawada.

Dilsukhnagar Arena’s student Animation Short Film ‘Trashhed’ bagged the ‘Silver Krishnaveni Award’ for Best Short Film.

Dilsukhnagar Arena’s student Animation Short Film ‘Trashhed’ bagged the ‘Silver Krishnaveni Award’ for Best Short Film. Mr. Malladi Vishnu, MLA, Vijayawada Central presented the Silver Krishnaveni Award along with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 to Dilsukhnagar Arena in the presence of Mr. Jampa Krishna Kishore – Vijayawada Film Society Secretary and C. Uma Maheshwara Rao – Jury chairman and Film Director.

This is the second accolade for the Animation short Film ‘Trashhed’. The film previously won the first prize at the International Film Festival, Nagpur apart from two prestigious nominations at the Aarohi film festival, Mumbai and the 16th International Children’s Film Festival, Mumbai. The film ‘Trashhed’ uses humour to stress upon the need to keep our surroundings clean. The film was created by Pranay Bura, Ravi Kiran Reddy, Srinivas Reddy and Varun Kumar, four students from Dilsukhnagar Arena.

Four other Animation films – ‘Chamki’, ‘A Garden Dream’, ‘Fuel Duel’ and ‘Feel the Punch’ created by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena won Special Campus Prizes at SFFV-2011, taking Dilsukhnagar Arena’s tally to an unbelievable five. Each of these films received a cash prize and a Certificate of Merit.

SFFV-2011 attracted 117 entries in the open category from budding film makers across the country: Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Gujarat, Goa and other states.

About the festival

The Short Film Festival of Vijayawada SFFV-2011 was organized by The Vijayawada Film Society (VIFISO) in association with Andhra Pradesh State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation (APSFTvTDC). The two-day festival was held at The Institute of Engineers India, K.L.Rao Bhavan, Governorpet, Vijayawada. Screening of nominated films happened on the first day. The awards ceremony was held at 6.00pm on April 6, 2011.
The festival aims to generate awareness about all forms of pollution, promote conservation of precious natural resources and to provide a national platform for budding film makers to showcase their talent apart from furthering tourism and business in Vijayawada.

It’s raining awards for ‘Feel the punch’: a humorous 3D Animation short from Dilsukhnagar Arena

4 prestigious awards so far and there’s no stopping ‘Feel the punch’. A tummy-tickling Animation short film featuring brilliantly designed characters, ‘Feel the punch’ continued its winning streak at the awards circuit to capture its 5th award: ‘Best Animated Movie’ at a glittering awards function held on the 26th of February, 2011 at Chennai.

‘Feel the punch’ was conceptualized and created in just 70 days by a team of 22 students from Dilsukhnagar Arena using Maya 2009, Foundry Nuke and Photoshop in a real-time environment and under the able guidance of industry-experienced mentors. The students had the privilege of working on production-class technologies and access to the best library that any Animation training facility in India can boast of–Dilsukhnagar Arena.

With over 12 years of proven experience in grooming industry-ready Animation, VFX and Web Artists, Dilsukhnagar Arena is widely acknowledged as the choice destination for students across India who wish to pursue a rewarding career in the digital media industry. ‘Feel the punch’ impresses international jury: angles for Award No.5 at MONSTRA-2011

‘Feel the punch’ – Dilsukhnagar Arena’s 3D Animation Short Film was chosen for BEST OF THE WORLD/SHORTS Sessions of the MONSTRA 2011-Lisbon Animated Film festival to be held from the 21st until the 27th of March 2011 at Lisbon, Portugal. The result of an internship project by a team of 22 students of Dilsukhnagar Arena, Hyderabad, ‘Feel the punch’ was animated in 40 days and has already won several awards at various Animation Film Festivals. Having been selected for BEST OF THE WORLD/SHORTS Sessions of the MONSTRA 2011-Lisbon Animated Film festival, the film will be screened to international audience during this prestigious week-long festival.

The MONSTRA | Lisbon Animated Film Festival is a venue where animated film meets other media and other arts, aiming to participate in the expansion of multiple aesthetic and narrative readings, possible due to its cinematographic, technological and creative aspects. Films are admitted for competition, dedicated every other year to feature and short films. In 2011, the admitted categories for the competition are Animated Feature Film and Student Animated Short Film-Rajasekhar Buggaveeti.

The final selection will take place during the Festival and it will be the International Jury’s responsibility to determine the award-wining films. An International Jury will be appointed by the Festival’s Organization and it will be made public one month prior to the Festival Opening on the official website. Dilsukhnagar Arena celebrated the new edition of its annual Pixellence awards  at Nimantran Palace , Nagole X Roads, Hyderabad on Sunday, the 30th of January, 2011. The venue wore a festive look and was dotted with life-size displays of the 3D Character Models and posters of Short films created by students of Dilsukhnagar Arena. Excitement was in the air as the 1500-seater air-conditioned auditorium was packed to capacity well before the celebrations began.

The celebrations kicked off at 4.00 pm with an enthralling dance performance by a student. A string of entertaining performances including some hilarious skits, slapstick comedy and stand-up comedy bits and Television show Spoofs added to the entertainment quotient. The highlights of the celebrations were a high-voltage, applause-amplifying, foot-thumping group dance performance by an ensemble cast comprising students and staff apart from a singing spree by Mr. L. Satyanarayana (fondly addressed as Satyam Sir), a senior Adobe-Certified mentor at Dilsukhnagar Arena who arrested the audience with his mellifluous voice and literally stole the show with his authentic rendition of the foot-tapping ever-green numbers ‘Dil Kaa Aalam’ and ‘Ab Tere Bin’ from the smash-hit ‘Aashiqui’.  

A few Dilsukhnagar Arena alumni addressed the students and inspired them with their career experiences and success stories. They recalled their old days at Dilsukhnagar Arena and expressed their gratitude to the MD & CEO, Mr. RajaSekhar Buggaveeti for providing the ideal platform for pursuing a successful career. The celebrations climaxed to the Awards distribution ceremony with 40 students receiving Pixellence Awards for their outstanding work in various categories of Digital Art. Over 400 entries were received and given the high quality of submissions, the jury had a tough time picking the winners.

A celebration of technical excellence and the spirit of creative Animation, ‘Feel the punch’, Dilsukhnagar Arena’s enthralling High-Definition 3D Animation short film achieved a record-cracking 4 lakh clicks for its video uploaded on the internet’s most popular video-sharing website, ‘You Tube’. The record assumes immense importance, considering the fact that no Indian 3D Animation short film has even managed to cross 1 lakh clicks till date, on You Tube.

The film also dominated Animation festivals across India, winning four prestigious awards including the coveted TASI Viewer’s Choice Award at Anifest India-2010. The other awards for ‘Feel the punch’ include, The Best Film award at the “24 FPS Animation Awards-2010”, Special Jury Award at Asifa’s International Animation Day celebrations, Awards of Excellence-2010 and a Special Jury Award at the Short and Documentary Film Festival of Hyderabad-2010. The film recently won a nomination at another important film festival and is well-placed to top-up it awards bouquet with another prized trophy.

‘Feel the punch’ cornered all the glory at the 7th edition of MAAC’s Annual 24 FPS Animation awards celebrations as it outshone competition to claim the Best 3D Animated Short Film award in the student team (open) category. Three prestigious recognitions at prominent Animation film festivals so far and ‘Feel the punch’ is showing no signs of fatigue.

The film is the proud recipient of

  • The Special Jury Award at the Awards of Excellence, Asifa IAD-2010
  • The Special Jury Award at the Short and Documentary Film Festival of Hyderabad (SDFFH)-2010

The film was ideated and animated by a team of 25 students at Dilsukhnagar Arena in just 70 days. The budding team of animators crafted the film in a real-time production environment as part of their intensive internship program.

‘Feel the punch’ is creating waves on the internet as its video hosted on YouTube has registered a staggering 2,50,000 clicks in a very short time and is all set to create a record for any short film in its category. The film has been screened specially for select audiences and also at various film festivals. It latest recognition at the 24 FPS Animation awards comes as no surprise. The 7th Annual 24 FPS Animation awards were held at the SRPF Grounds in Goregaon, Mumbai on November 19, 2010. The Awards showcased the best animation & VFX work in Hollywood, Bollywood, gaming and commercials. The prestigious event had nominations not only from young Animators and studios in India but also from countries like China, France, Germany and the US.

Dilsukhnagar Arena is on a roll. And there’s no stopping it, given the flurry of back-to-back, multiple awards it has been winning at prominent Animation festivals across the country over the past two years.

The SPECIAL JURY AWARD for Dilsukhnagar Arena’s High Definition 3D Animation Short Film Feel The Punch in the student animation films category at the 10th edition of Asifa India ’s International Animation Day celebrations underlines its reputation as India ’s preferred destination for top-notch Animation, VFX and Web training.

ASIFA India’s International Animation Day (IAD) – an annual global celebration endeavoring to recognize budding talent in the art and technology of animation, kicked off celebrations for its 10th edition on the 28th of October, 2010 at Shilpakala Vedika, HITEC city, Hyderabad.

This year’s celebrations, IAD 10 in India was celebrated at various locations throughout the country between October 24 and November 8, 2010.
